Terms of Service

The rules of the road for using share terminal. Plain language where possible; the boring bits where necessary.

Last updated · May 31, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the share terminal service (the "Service") — including the share-terminal command-line client, the web app at shareterminal.cloud, the supporting API, and the marketing site — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service does

share terminal lets you share an interactive terminal session from your machine to a browser tab held by you or someone you authorize. Terminal data flows peer-to-peer over an encrypted WebRTC channel; our servers handle authentication, signaling, and session metadata only — never the contents of your shell.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Service.

4. Your account

You sign in with a third-party identity provider (currently Google). You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account, and for keeping the credentials of any linked identity provider secure. Notify us at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any law or the rights of another person, including intellectual property and privacy rights.
  • Distribute malware, spam, or any content intended to disrupt other systems.
  • Attempt to probe, scan, or otherwise compromise the security of the Service or the systems of other users.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of non-open components of the Service.
  • Resell or sublicense the Service without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate access without prior notice if we reasonably believe you have violated these rules.

6. Subscription, trial, and payment

The Service is offered as a monthly subscription billed monthly in advance at the price listed on the pricing page.

New accounts may activate a one-time 14-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start the trial; the trial begins the moment you submit it. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the end of the 14th day, your subscription begins automatically and the payment method on file is charged for the first month and each month thereafter.

Fees are non-refundable except as set out in our refund policy. We may change pricing on 30 days' notice; existing subscriptions keep their current price for the remainder of the current billing period.

7. Cancellation and termination

You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until then.

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately for material breach of these Terms, or for any reason on 30 days' notice. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and your stored session metadata may be deleted.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, the marketing site, and all related materials are owned by the operator of share terminal and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

You retain all rights to the contents of your terminal sessions. We claim no ownership and store no copy of that content.

9. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in the privacy policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will share terminal or its operators be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability under these Terms will not exceed the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or via a notice in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
